What We Do
We are out to complement the effort of the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria in addressing the ever-increasing demand by indigents and the disadvantaged for Pro Bono legal services through our various State Coordinators, our officers and various stakeholders. We utilise every possible avenue to reach out to lawyers and encourage them to take pro bono legal cases. Similarly, we create awareness via social media, electronic and mass media and through one-on-one engagement with the indigents in their communities, IDP camps schools, through referrals etc. Our aim is to ensure that indigents get justice no matter their distance from the cities.
Focus Areas
The clearing house is working to expand its reach and impact in bringing justice to our vulnerable. Currently, we will be providing pro bono legal services in certain focus areas. They are;
Domestic Violence
Child Abuse
Unlawful Detention
Human rights abuse
Sexual Harassment & Assault
Disinheritance of Widows and Orphans
Disinheritance by Reason of Gender
Unlawful Dismissal (employment matters with sexual harassment or discrimination undertones)
Commercial Cases (involving oppression of indigent persons such as petty traders on matters such as unlawful taxation)
Rape
